brahmaghnaśca surāpaśca steyī ca gurutalpagaḥ /
māhātmyaṃ narmadāyāstu śrutvā pāpabahiṣkṛtāḥ //
The killer of a brāhmaṇa, the drinker of liquor, the thief, and the violator of the guru's bed, / having heard the glorification of the Narmadā, are cast out of sin.
