namaste devadeveśa umāvara jagatpate /
arghyeṇānena me sarvaṃ daurbhāgyaṃ nāśaya prabho /
iti arghyamantraḥ //
'Homage to you, O lord of the gods, husband of Umā, lord of the world! / By this water of respect, O Lord, destroy all my misfortune!' / —Such is the mantra for the water of respect.
