aśītiśca yavāḥ proktā gaṅgāyāmunasaṅgame /
kāverīnarmadāyoge tadevāṣṭaguṇaṃ smṛtam //
Eighty barley grains are stated [as the measure of merit] at the confluence of the Gaṅgā and Yamunā; / at the confluence of the Kāverī and Narmadā, it is traditionally regarded as eight times that.
