annahīno dahed rāṣṭraṃ mantrahīnastu ṛtvijaḥ /
dātāraṃ dakṣiṇāhīno nāsti yajñasamo ripuḥ //
Deed devoid of food burns the realm, devoid of mantras it burns the officiating priests, / and devoid of sacrificial gifts it burns the patron; there is no enemy equal to [a flawed] sacrifice!"
