śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
hanta te kathayiṣyāmi vicitraṃ yatpurātanam /
vṛttaṃ svargasabhāmadhye ṛṣīṇāṃ bhāvitātmanām //
The venerable Mārkaṇḍeya said: / Ah, I shall tell you a wondrous ancient event / that occurred in the assembly of heaven among sages of purified soul.
