manuruvāca:
śṛṇu vatsa yathānyāyamasyā vakṣyāmi saṃbhavam /
yayā rudrasamudbhūtā yā ceyaṃ varavarṇinī //

Manu said: / “Listen, my child; I will explain her origin according to the truth: / how she was born from Rudra, and who this fair-complexioned woman is.
