īśvara uvāca:
dadāmi te varaṃ hyadya yastvayā yācito 'nagha /
gaṇeṣu me sthitaḥ putra bhṛṅgīśastvaṃ bhaviṣyasi //
Īśvara said: / "I indeed give you the boon today that was asked by you, O sinless one: / staying among my troops, O son, you shall become Bhṛṅgīśa."

|| iti śrīskānde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ pañcama āvantyakhaṇḍe revākhaṇḍe 'ndhakavadhatadvarapradānavarṇanaṃ nāmāṣṭacatvāriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ ||
|| Thus ends the forty-eighth chapter, called 'The Description of the Slaying of Andhaka and the Granting of a Boon to Him,' in the Revākhaṇḍa of the Avantyakhaṇḍa, in the great Purāṇa of eighty-one thousand verses, the glorious Skandapurāṇa.
