udakaṃ cātra dānaṃ ca dadyād abhayam eva ca /
annadānāt paraṃ dānaṃ na bhūtaṃ na bhaviṣyati //
and one should give water here, and gifts, and safety itself. / Higher than the gift of food there has been no gift, nor will there ever be.
