krīḍanbālamṛgaiḥ sārddhaṃ pratyahaṃ sa muneḥ sutaḥ /
kadāciddaivayogena ṛkṣaśṛṅgo mamāra saḥ //
Playing daily with young deer, that son of the sage, / at some time, by the turn of fate, that Ṛkṣaśṛṅga died.

|| iti śrīskānde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ pañcama āvantyakhaṇḍe revākhaṇḍe śūlabhedamāhātmye ṛkṣaśṛṅgacaritre dīrghatapomunyākhyānavarṇanaṃ nāma dvipañcāśattamo 'dhyāyaḥ ||
|| Thus ends the fifty-second chapter, entitled 'Description of the Narrative of the Sage Dīrghatapas in the Story of Ṛkṣaśṛṅga, in the Glorification of Śūlabheda', in the Revākhaṇḍa of the Avantyakhaṇḍa, in the glorious Skandapurāṇa consisting of eighty-one thousand verses.
