īśvara uvāca:
śṛṇuṣvaikamanā bhūtvā yathā gaṅgāvatāritā /
devaiḥ sarvairmahābhāgā sarvalokahitāya vai //

Īśvara said:
Listen with an attentive mind to how the Gaṅgā was brought down / by all the gods, the most fortunate one, for the welfare of all the worlds.
