anyad devaśilāyāstu māhātmyaṃ śṛṇu bhūpate /
kathayāmi mahābāho setihāsaṃ purātanam //

Īśvara said: / Listen to another glorification of Devaśilā, O lord of the earth. / I shall tell it with an ancient history, O mighty-armed one.
