mārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
iti te kathitaḥ sarvaḥ śūlabhedasya vistaraḥ /
yaḥ śrutaḥ śaṅkarātpūrvamṛṣidevasamāgame //

Mārkaṇḍeya said:
Thus has been told to you the entire description of Śūlabheda,
which was heard earlier from Śaṅkara at the gathering of sages and gods.
