tato nandī pratīhāro rudrāṃśam api taṃ kapim /
na ca saṃgamayāmāsa rudreṇāghaughahāriṇā //
Then Nandī, the doorkeeper, did not bring that monkey, / even though a portion of Rudra, into the presence of Rudra, the remover of the flood of sins.
