umārudrāṅgasambhūtā yena caiṣā mahānadī /
lokānprāpayate svargaṃ tena puṇyatvamāgatā //

Since this great river was born from the bodies of Umā and Rudra, / she leads the worlds to heaven; by that she has attained holiness.
