parāśara uvāca:
vedadrumasya maitreya śākhābhedaiḥ sahasraśaḥ
na śakyo vistaro vaktuṃ saṃkṣepeṇa śṛṇuṣva tam //
PARÁŚARA.--The branches of the great tree of the Vedas are so numerous, Maitreya, that it is impossible to describe them at length. I will give you a summary account of them.
