yasyāsīt prapitāmaho guṇanidher devaḥ purāṇo jagat sṛṣṭā yasya pitāmaho matimatāṃ śreṣṭho vasiṣṭhaḥ pitā
śaktir yasya jagaddhitāya bhagavān vyāso hariḥ putratāṃ yāto yasya parāśaraṃ tam atulam vandāmahe nirmalam //

Whose great-grandfather was the ancient god, the creator of the world, a treasure-house of virtues; whose grandfather was the foremost of the wise, Vasiṣṭha; whose father was Śakti; / and whose son, for the welfare of the world, was the blessed Lord Vyāsa, Hari himself—to that peerless, pure Parāśara we bow.
