dadhatīṃ saṃsmarennityamuttarāmnāyamānitām .
athavā
yā caṇḍī madhukaiṭabhādidaityadalanī yā māhiṣonmūlinī
yā dhūmrekṣaṇacaṇḍamuṇḍamathanī yā raktabījāśanī .
śaktiḥ śumbhaniśumbhadaityadalanī yā siddhidātrī parā
sā devī navakoṭimūrtisahitā māṃ pātu viśveśvarī ..
atha argalāstotram
oṃ namaśvaṇḍikāyai

honored in the northern tradition.
Or:
She who crushed the demons beginning with Madhu and Kaiṭabha, she who uprooted Mahiṣāsura, / she who slew Dhūmrekṣaṇa, Caṇḍa, and Muṇḍa, she who consumed Raktabīja,
the Śakti who crushed the demons Śumbha and Niśumbha, she who grants supreme accomplishment, / may that Goddess, the Sovereign of the universe, accompanied by ninety million forms, protect me!
