vāme pustakadhāriṇīmabhayadāṃ sākṣasrajaṃ dakṣiṇe
bhaktebhyo varadānapeśalakarāṃ karpūrakundojjvalām .
ujjṛmbhāmbujapatrakāntinayanasnigdhaprabhālokinīṃ
ye tvāmamba! na śīlayanti manasā teṣāṃ kavitvaṃ kutaḥ ..

"Holding a book in the left [hand], granting fearlessness, with a rosary in the right, / her hands gracious in bestowing boons on devotees, radiant as camphor and jasmine, / gazing with a soft radiance from eyes having the splendor of blossoming lotus petals— / those who do not cherish you with their mind, O Mother, whence could poetic power come to them?"
