"Those who... like a white [lotus]" and so forth. O Bhāratī! Those who meditate on you abiding at the crown of the head, from within their mouth, unceasingly, [that is,] without effort, speech issues forth; like the tossing waves and billows of the river of the gods: "river of the gods" means the Gaṅgā; like its billows, [meaning] its large waves, and its tossed, [meaning] restless, waves, [that is,] currents. What kind of speech? Having open and distinct letters and words: having blossoming, [that is,] uncontracted, distinct letters, and words capable of expressing their respective meanings, composed of exceedingly serene letters—such is what is meant. Meditating [upon her] of what color? Possessing a clear and lovely splendor like a cluster of white lotuses: having a splendor that is clear, [meaning] white, and lovely, [meaning] delightful, like a cluster of white lotuses, [that is,] like a heap of white water-lilies. Engaged in what action? Showering, as it were, the head of the practitioner with streams of nectar flowing from her own body. The word "as it were" (iva) is an ornament of the phrase.
