Of what kind? "Wearing dangling golden earrings and armlets": she who wears armlets together with two dangling, trembling golden earrings. "Wearing a fastened girdle-garland": she by whom a girdle, a garland of golden lotuses, is fastened; or, she who has a fastened girdle-cord. Whence comes this steadying in the mind? Therefore he says: "O you who have gone into it (tadgate)!" O you who always abide right there as the inner self of all beings!—this is an adjective functioning as a vocative. In their houses, "fortunes"—wealth and prosperity—find stability for a long time. Of what kind? "Flickering like the flapping ears of an intoxicated elephant": flickering like the flapping ears of an elephant that is becoming intoxicated, in rut; unstable, even though they are unstable by nature, this is the meaning. Doing what? "Expanding day by day," increasing. For what reason? "Out of graceful sport," through playful display, manifesting manifold forms such as land, gold, cattle, rice, barley, vehicles, jewels, and garments. Alternatively: "flickering like the flapping ears of an intoxicated elephant" means that even though they are fickle, like the ear-flapping of rutting elephants, they attain stability—thus the attainment of elephants, horses, and so forth is disclosed.
