ŚĀ 11.1
Prajāpati drew up this person. In him he caused these deities to enter: Agni into speech, Vāyu into breath, the lightnings into the downward breath, Parjanya into the upward breath, the sun into sight, the moon into the mind, the directions into hearing, the earth into the body, the waters into semen, Indra into strength, Īśāna into anger, space into the head, Brahman into the self. Just as a great vessel of nectar would stand brimming over, just so did he stand. Then these deities considered: "What will this person do for us, or what shall we do with him? Come, let us depart from this body." They departed. Then this body was as if empty, full of hollows. Prajāpati reflected: "It is not capable of [sustaining] a hole. Come, let me afflict these [deities] with hunger and thirst." He afflicted them. Being afflicted, finding no comfort, they entered this very person again.
