athaitā dvipadāḥ śaṃsati | pratiṣṭhānīyaṃ vai chando dvipadāḥ pratiṣṭhityā eva ||

ŚĀ 2.12
Then he recites these Dvipadā [verses]. The Dvipadā [metre] is indeed a metre serving as a firm foundation, precisely for the sake of a firm foundation.
