He recites the hymn to the Ṛbhus.
The Ṛbhus indeed won by ascetic heat the drinking of Soma among the gods.
They wished to allot [a share] to them at the morning pressing;
Agni with the Vasus drove them away from the morning pressing.
They wished to allot [a share] to them at the midday pressing;
Indra with the Rudras drove them away from the midday pressing.
They wished to allot [a share] to them at the third pressing; the All-Gods kept driving them away:
'They shall not drink here, they shall not!'
Prajāpati said to Savitṛ:
'These are indeed your pupils; do you drink together with them.'
Savitṛ said: 'So be it; you indeed drink around them on both sides.'
Prajāpati drank around them on both sides.
These two undefined inserted verses belonging to Prajāpati are recited on both sides of the hymn to the Ṛbhus:
'Him of fair form for aid', and 'This bird has stirred, the embryo of Pṛśni.'
Thus Prajāpati drinks around them on both sides.
And therefore a master of a guild approves into his cup only whomsoever he wishes.
The gods indeed shrank away from them because of human scent;
they interposed these two inserted verses:
'Whose mother...' and '...or the father'.
