She said, 'Did you not say, "I am Sumitra [Good Friend]"?' / He said, 'A good friend [sumitra] am I to a good friend, a bad friend [durmitra] to a bad friend.' / He saw these Saumitra sāmans. / With them he praised. / With them he called Indra. / Indra, having raised the thunderbolt, ran up with this Anuṣṭubh: 'Before-conquering of the juice for you, for the intoxicating pressed [soma]; strike away the dog, O friends, the long-tongued one!' [RS 9.101.1], and struck her down. / These are verses that slay rivals, that slay rakṣases. / He who praises with these verses slays his hating rival, strikes away the rakṣas, evil. / 'He who with purifying stream flows all around when pressed, the drop like an active horse; / him, difficult to burn, men [approach] with all-reaching thought for the sacrifice—let the stones be [ready]!' [RS 9.107.4] / This is the transition to the two earlier pressings. / On them is the Śyāvāśva [sāman]. / Śyāvāśva Ārcanānasa, who had gone away gathering firewood, his fellow session-sacrificers abandoned and went to the heavenly world. / He desired, 'May I fly up after them to the heavenly world; may I meet with my fellow session-sacrificers.' / He saw this sāman. / With it he praised.
