"Now, that black, naked man armed with a club who guarded it—that was wrath; and that was his food."
"What is the expiation for it?"
"That he drinks from the ladle—that is its expiation; thereby he escapes beyond it.
Now, the waters which he pours toward the north after cleansing the ladle—that is the river of ghee.
For it, golden men draw out all desires with golden cups."
"What was the sixth?"
"Five rivers with lotuses, with white water-lilies, flowing with honey-water;
in them there was dancing and singing, the sound of the lute, troops of Apsarases, fragrant scent, and a great roar."
"Yes!" he said.
"Those worlds indeed became mine!"
"By what can they be conquered?"
"By this fivefold-drawn [offering], by this fivefold-lifted [offering]."
He said: "Indeed, there is surely no other room for the conquest of worlds than the fire-offering.
Today is the eve of my establishment of the fires!"
They did so for him.
When one who knows this offers the fire-offering, plants do not eat him in return in that world, having assumed human form, nor cattle, nor rice and barley; nor do his rites of sacrifice and charity go to faith and unfaith; he repels the river of blood; he attains the river of ghee.
