Then indeed he reached the heavenly world. That is this heaven-procuring sāman. He reaches the heavenly world who knows thus. And because Śukti Āṅgirasa saw it, therefore it is called Śaukta. 'The most honeyed pressed somas, intoxicating for Indra'—thus they contain [the word] 'mad'. Exhilaration is sap. This third pressing is like something drained. In that these contain [the word] 'mad', they place sap into it, they swell it with this. 'Possessing purifiers they have flowed; let your exhilarations reach the gods'—thus they place sap, exhilaration, in it in proper sequence. 'The drop purifies itself for Indra,' said the gods; 'The lord of speech acts as Makha, ruling everything with strength'—thus they contain [the word] 'viśva'. For this day belongs to the All-Gods. 'The ocean with a thousand streams purifies itself, moving speech'—that which has hundreds and thousands is the form of the Jagatī. This day is related to the Jagatī.
