—this is addressed to Indra and Agni. "Towards you the stomas have sung praise"—he speaks to many stomas. The other days have single stomas, but this one has three stomas. Therefore he says, "Towards you the stomas have sung praise," speaking to many stomas. "Drink the pressed [juice], bringing well-being... whatever much-desired teams you heroes have for the donor, O Indra and Agni, come with them; come with them, O heroes, to this pressed soma pressing, O Indra and Agni, for drinking soma"—the other lauds have a single deity, but this one has two deities. Just as one might stand firmly with both feet, such is that. The stoma is the trinava. These worlds are trinava; firmly established in these worlds they proceed.

"Flow, O Soma, most radiant"—thus there are flowing Gāyatrī verses for the midday purifying laud. "Flow" is a form of the Rathantara; this day is connected with the Rathantara. "Roaring towards the wooden tubs"—with the word "towards" (abhi), it is also a form of the Rathantara. "Procuring water for Indra and Vāyu"—they contain the word "water" (ap); for this day is water. "For Varuṇa and the Maruts"—they contain the Maruts; the connection with the Maruts is the form of the midday pressing; thus they do not depart from the form of the midday pressing. "Granting food for our offspring, O Soma, from every side to us"—they contain the word "all" (viśva); for this day belongs to the All-Gods. "Purify yourself for a thousandfold [wealth]"—thus they approach the thousand-form of the Mahānāmnī verses; for the Mahānāmnīs are cattle.
