Of these two [rites], their two trivṛt [stomas] are together, the two fifteen-fold together, the two seventeen-fold together, the two twenty-one-fold together, the two twenty-seven-fold together, and the two thirty-three-fold together. Just as one would walk standing firmly on two [feet] each time, even so one stands firm in the heavenly world by means of these two. Moreover they say: 'These two sacrificial rites belong indeed to the searches.' He who should sacrifice with the fire-altar to be piled, whether maintained for a year or not maintained for a year, should sacrifice with these two. For him, the year is instantly searched out by seasons, by months, and by half-months. Since the stomas of the pṛṣṭhya six-day period are used, and the seasons are the pṛṣṭhas, and the seasons are the year, it is by seasons thereby. And since there are twelve stotras, and twelve months are the year, it is by months thereby. And since there are twenty-four stotra-recitations and sastras, and twenty-four half-months are the year, it is by half-months thereby. The year is instantly searched out for him who knows thus.
