In a single day, the year is sought by him who knows thus.
Having generated these [creatures], he desired: "May I go to the heavenly world."
He saw this upper Manustoma.
He brought it.
He sacrificed with it.
Its stomas are those of the pṛṣṭhya six-day rite; the pṛṣṭhas are indeed the seasons,
the seasons are the year,
the year is the heavenly world—for the attainment of the heavenly world itself.
Its stomas are upward; the heavenly world is upward—for the attainment of the heavenly world itself.
Its two sāmans are both the Bṛhat and the Rathantara, which are heavenly—for the attainment of the heavenly world itself.
Its pavamānas are the Chandomas; the Chandomas are indeed cattle,
cattle are the heavenly world—for the attainment of the heavenly world itself.
Its brāhmaṇācchaṃsin's sāman is the Pañcaviṃśa.
The Pañcaviṃśa is indeed food.
The sacrificer's desire is this: namely, the brāhmaṇācchaṃsin's sāman.
In his own sphere they thereby prosper the sacrificer with food.
It is an Ukthya; offspring and cattle are indeed the ukthas,
offspring and cattle are the heavenly world—for the attainment of the heavenly world itself.
