The Virāj is cattle.
Now, what the two are, that is the two-footed sacrificer placed beyond,
for the protection of cattle, to prevent cattle from being scattered.
His possession is not scattered, who knows thus.
Now they also say: Being just this one chant, having divided it fourfold, they should praise; with six [verses] they should praise for the Hotṛ, with six for the Maitrāvaruṇa, with six for the Brāhmaṇācchaṃsin, with six for the Acchāvāka;
and the Hotṛ alone should recite in response.
They amount to twenty-four chant-verses.
The year has twenty-four half-months.
The year is Prajāpati.
Prajāpati himself is this one placed beyond,
for the protection of cattle, to prevent cattle from being scattered.
His possession is not scattered, who knows thus.
And moreover they say: "Let these chants be simply the Trivṛt, the Pañcadaśa, the Saptadaśa, and the Ekaviṃśa."
Indeed, after the Ekaviṃśa all sacrificial rites conclude.
Moreover, that which is the Ekaviṃśa is firmly established, a supported stoma.
Therefore, the Ekaviṃśa stoma alone should be performed at the end.
About that they say: "They should follow along with the forms of the pṛṣṭhas."
