Now these two Anukrī rites. The Ādityas and the Aṅgirases contended for the heavenly world. The Ādityas went to the heavenly world first. The Aṅgirases desired, 'May we also go to that world to which the Ādityas went.' They saw this sacrifice. Being that very one, they brought it cryptically. They sacrificed with it. Leading a white mare as the sacrificial gift, they came to share the world with the Ādityas. These Ādityas and Aṅgirases share the same world. He who knows this comes to share the same world with the Ādityas and the Aṅgirases. And they also say, 'He whose rival is superior should sacrifice with this.' For he who is superior is like one gone before; by means of this they overtook those who had gone before. Having overtaken the superior, he becomes better off in himself.
