'And this Khaṇḍika has sent word to me: "He will sacrifice tomorrow with a Sadyaskrī."
He alone will now succeed, I will be defeated tomorrow—this is what I am pondering.'
They said to him, 'There is this sacrificial rite called the Parikrī.
With it let us sacrifice for you.'
'So be it.'
With it they sacrificed for him.
In this [rite], they praise with one [verse] of each triplet.
The first stotriyā verse is the brahman; the second, the kṣatra; the third, the people (viś).
The support of the brahman is the kṣatra and the people.
And alongside the kṣatra and the people is the realm of the rival.
In that he cut off the two, he thereby cut off the realm of the rival.
The first stotriyā is the self; the second, the wife; the third, the offspring.
The support of the self is the wife and the offspring.
And alongside the wife and the offspring is the realm of the rival.
In that he cut off the two, he thereby cut off the realm of the rival.
