They ask on this point: 'What do they not over-chant? What do they not over-recite? What do they not over-draw?' He should say: 'It is breath alone that they do not over-chant; when chanted, breath alone remains. It is speech alone that they do not over-recite; when recited, speech alone remains. It is mind alone that they do not over-draw; when drawn, mind alone remains. What is not over-chanted, not over-recited, not over-drawn, becomes fully accomplished for him who knows thus. And indeed, only the fulfilled sacrifice should be revered. What he does while reciting without faltering, that belongs to heaven. "This of mine belongs to heaven; by this I will be in the heavenly world"—thus should he understand it. But what he does while reciting poorly, stumbling and spilling, that is nourishment, procreation. "This of mine is nourishment, procreation; I will become many, I will propagate"—thus should he understand it.'
