He girds the first one, makes the first one recite, [the priest] comes to the first one with the full vessel, [saying]: 'You, the wives, are not separated.' The sacrificial rite concludes towards the north. So much regarding the divinity. Now regarding the self: this person who is here in the eye is indeed the consecrated one. His downward eyelashes are the beard; those which are upward are the hair. The white and black are the form of the black-antelope skin: the white is the form of the white, the black of the black. Now that orb is the waters, it is food, it is the immortal. In that orb is the person made of luster, made of meter. He is breath, he is Indra, he is Prajāpati, he is the consecrated one. When one who knows thus is consecrated, just as that one is consecrated for faculty, primacy, and preeminence, so he becomes consecrated for faculty, primacy, and preeminence. Therefore, when one who knows thus is consecrated, kingdoms are liable to tremble; for he becomes like a hollow in the scorched [ground]. For thus he is consecrated for faculty, primacy, and preeminence. Therefore he addresses everyone — the teacher, the father, the Kṣatriya. For thus he is consecrated for faculty, primacy, and preeminence.
