Having anointed him and made him enter, the Adhvaryu offers the audgrahaṇa oblations. When he offers the audgrahaṇa oblations, when he gives him the staff of udumbara wood, he should then attend the Āhavanīya fire [with the formula]: 'With speech may my speech be consecrated, to reach Agni; with breath may my breath be consecrated, to reach Vāyu; with eye may my eye be consecrated, to reach Sūrya; with mind may my mind be consecrated, to reach Prajāpati.' Thus, through these unafflicted deities, he consecrates these deities of his own. Then he says: 'Agni is consecrated; the earth is consecration; may that consecration consecrate me; with that consecration I am consecrated. Vāyu is consecrated; the intermediate space is consecration; may that consecration consecrate me; with that consecration I am consecrated. Āditya is consecrated; the sky is consecration; may that consecration consecrate me; with that consecration I am consecrated. Prajāpati is consecrated; the mind is consecration; may that consecration consecrate me; with that consecration I am consecrated. After my speech let the verses be consecrated, after my mind the sacrificial formulas, after my breath the sāmans. After my faith let King Soma be consecrated. With the verse I am consecrated; with the sacrificial formula I am consecrated; with the sāman I am consecrated; with the earth I am consecrated; with the intermediate space I am consecrated; with the sky I am consecrated.' In this rite, he is wholly consecrated. Now, he for whom these worlds are unconsecrated, the meters unconsecrated, King Soma unconsecrated—
2-3.65.p1
- taṃ sakāmamabhyaśnuvīta
—he would attain it [only] along with desire.
2-3.65.p2
atha haivaṃviddīkṣamāna eva sarvānkāmānupāpnoti
Then, indeed, one who knows thus obtains all desires even while being consecrated.
2-3.65.p3
tasmāddīkṣāsu na rājānaṃ pariveviṣyāt
Therefore, during the consecrations, one should not wait upon the king.
2-3.65.p4
yadvrato hyevaiṣa bhavati tadvratā ime lokāstadvratāni chandāṃsi tadvratassomo
For whatever his vow is, of that vow are these worlds, of that vow are the meters, of that vow is King
2-3.65.p5
rājā
Soma.
2-3.65.p6
athāha bhūrbhuva svassupoṣaḥ poṣaissuvīro vīraissuprajaḥ prajayāsamiti
Then he says: 'Bhūr bhuvas svar! May I be well nourished through nourishings, possessing good heroes through heroes, possessing good offspring through offspring!'
2-3.65.p7
tadetāmaparimitāmāśiṣamanta āśāste tapo me pratiṣṭheti
He thus prays for this unlimited blessing at the end: 'Austerity is my support.'
2-3.65.p8
tattapaḥ pratiṣṭhāṃ kurute
Thus he makes austerity his support.
2-3.65.p9
śraddhā me'kṣitiriti tacchraddhāmakṣitiṃ kurute
'Faith is my imperishability'—thus he makes faith his imperishability.
2-3.65.p10
satyaṃ me gṛhapatirityeṣa vai satyam
'Truth is my householder'—this one, indeed, is truth.
2-3.65.p11
satyaṃ ya eṣa tapati
It is truth that burns here.
2-3.65.p12
saiṣānārtā devatā
This is the unafflicted deity.
