The ninefold is the brahman. With the brahman the two seized and brought them from both sides. One of them yielded milk in the rainy season. They two placed it on the earth. This one the peasants seek with the crooked wood, with the plow; one the people [seek] through trade; one the Brahmins [seek] through studenthood (brahmacarya); one the nobility [seek] through royal service. Then those three that were left over, they made them into the ukthas. That is this Ukthya sacrifice. Always this one was the first of the Ukthyas, and then from that the Agniṣṭomas went forth. He who desires cattle should sacrifice with this. Then indeed they should perform both the Bṛhat and the Rathantara in it. Cattle are indeed of two kinds: some related to Rathantara, others related to Bṛhat. Those cattle that have teeth on one jaw only are related to Rathantara; those that have teeth on both jaws are related to Bṛhat: [it is] for the obtaining of both kinds of cattle. It is an Ukthya; the ukthas are cattle, for the obtaining of cattle. Its Acchāvākasāman is the Udveśīya, having the form of all the pṛṣṭhas; the pṛṣṭhas are cattle, for the obtaining of successive cattle.
