They saw this sacrifice, the Pṛtanājit.
They grasped it.
They sacrificed with it.
Thereupon they conquered that army.
Because they conquered the army, that is the Pṛtanājit-nature of the Pṛtanājit.
He who knows thus conquers the army and the spiteful rival.
It consists of twenty-four [parts].
The year consists of twenty-four half-months.
From the year they conquered them then.
Its pṛṣṭha is the Rathantara [sāman].
This [earth] indeed is the Rathantara.
From this world they conquered them then.
It has twelve stotras.
The year has twelve months.
Month by month they conquered them from the year then.
It has twenty-four chanted verses and recitations.
The year consists of twenty-four half-months.
Half-month by half-month they conquered them from the year then.
