prajāpatirvā agraṃ jyaiṣṭhyam
so yo'graṃ jyaiṣṭhyaṃ sa māgraṃ jyaiṣṭhyaṃ gamayāditi
tasyottarāvanti stotrāṇi bhavanti
uttarāvatīmevainaṃ tacchriyamuttarāvantaṃ svargaṃ lokaṃ gamayanti
tasya bṛhatpṛṣṭhaṃ bhavati
śrīrvai bṛhajjyaiṣṭhyam
ado vai bṛhadado vai jyaiṣṭhyam
tadenaṃ tacchriyāmeva madhyato jyaiṣṭhye pratiṣṭhāpayanti
tasya dvādaśa stotrāṇi bhavanti
dvādaśa māsāssaṃvatsaraḥ
saṃvatsaro vā agraṃ jyaiṣṭhyam
so yo'graṃ jyaiṣṭhyaṃ sa māgraṃ jyaiṣṭhyaṃ gamayāditi
tasya caturviṃśati stutaśastrāṇi bhavanti
caturviṃśatyardhamāsassaṃvatsaraḥ
saṃvatsaro vā agraṃ jyaiṣṭhyam
so yo'graṃ jyaiṣṭhyaṃ sa māgraṃ jyaiṣṭhyaṃ gamayāditi
sa yo jyeṣṭho jyaiṣṭhineyassamagriya syātsa etena yajeta gacchati jyaiṣṭhyaṃ na
jyaiṣṭhyādavarohati
Prajāpati is the summit, preeminence.
[Thinking:] 'May he who is the summit, preeminence, lead me to the summit, preeminence.'
Its stotras have verses following upon verses.
They lead him to fortune having subsequent [glory], to the heavenly world having subsequent [glory].
Its pṛṣṭha is the Bṛhat.
The Bṛhat is fortune, preeminence.
Yonder is the Bṛhat, yonder is preeminence.
They thereby establish him in fortune right in the middle, in preeminence.
It has twelve stotras.
The year has twelve months.
The year is the summit, preeminence.
[Thinking:] 'May he who is the summit, preeminence, lead me to the summit, preeminence.'
It has twenty-four chanted and recited hymns.
The year has twenty-four half-months.
The year is the summit, preeminence.

He who is the eldest, born of the eldest wife, [yet] equal to the foremost, should sacrifice with this; he attains preeminence, he does not fall from preeminence.

paurṇamāsena haviṣeṣṭvā ādityāya caruṃ nirvapati
Having sacrificed with the sacrificial offering of the full moon, he offers a caru to Āditya.
