He saw these two sacrifices.
He grasped them;
he sacrificed with them.
Then indeed he was propagated abundantly with offspring and cattle;
he created offspring and cattle in pairs.
He who desires, 'May I be propagated abundantly with offspring and cattle; may I create offspring and cattle in pairs,' should sacrifice with these two.
He is propagated abundantly with offspring and cattle; he creates offspring and cattle in pairs.
That Rāśi has the forty-four-fold [stoma] and has the Rathantara as its sāman.
The Rathantara is the priesthood (brahman), the forty-four-fold is the nobility (kṣatra);
[thinking:] 'With priesthood and nobility yoked together, may I be propagated abundantly with offspring and cattle.'
Moreover, because these stotras arise as if abundant (bahula), it is therefore called Rāśi (the Heap).
The Marāya has the forty-eight-fold [stoma] and has the Bṛhat as its sāman.
The forty-eight-fold is the priesthood, the Bṛhat is the nobility;
for these two are Gāyatrīs, in that it is forty-eight-fold;
[thinking:] 'With priesthood and nobility yoked together, may I be propagated abundantly with offspring and cattle.'
Moreover, because these stotras are, as it were, greater (jyāyas), it is therefore called Marāya;
for a granary (marāya) is indeed greater than a heap (rāśi).
