Thereupon he was multiplied in offspring and cattle. / No one else was prior to him. / He who desires: 'May I be multiplied, may no one else be prior to me,' should sacrifice with this. / He is indeed multiplied in offspring and cattle; no one else becomes prior to him. / It has the Trivṛt [stoma] and the Rathantara-sāman. / Indeed, there is no stoma prior to the Trivṛt stoma; there is no pṛṣṭha prior to the Rathantara pṛṣṭha; there is no deity prior to Prajāpati. / Because these are without predecessor (apūrva), it is therefore called Apūrva. / Moreover, Prajāpati is the mind. / Indeed, nothing whatever is prior to the mind. / Therefore also it is called Apūrva. / It has the Trivṛt [stoma]; the Trivṛt is deficient. / Deficient is procreation: [he reflects,] 'May that which is procreation procreate me.' / Its pṛṣṭha is the Rathantara; the Rathantara is procreation: [he reflects,] 'May that which is procreation procreate me.' / It has twelve stotras; the year has twelve months. / The year is procreation: [he reflects,] 'May he who is procreation procreate me.' / It has twenty-four chantings and recitations; the year has twenty-four half-months. / The year is procreation: [he reflects,] 'May he who is procreation procreate me.'
