Now there are these [verses] addressed to Sarasvat and to Sarasvatī.
Sarasvat and Sarasvatī are a divine couple for generation,
[so that he may say,] 'May I generate offspring by means of the divine couple.'
In this regard they say: 'The male [verse] should be made first, the female later;
thus the offspring of the sacrificer is born not shamelessly.'
And in this regard they also say: 'Vāyu is the placer of semen;
Sarasvatī is reproduction;
those two generate Sarasvat from the couple.
Moreover, the eager cow runs first, the bull runs behind; the [verse] addressed to Sarasvatī should be made first.'
Nevertheless, the [verse] addressed to Sarasvat should indeed be made first.
Now there is this opening verse addressed to Bṛhaspati.
Whatever creatures Prajāpati created without the brahman perished once created.
He saw this opening verse addressed to Bṛhaspati.
By means of it he created creatures endowed with the brahman.
Created, they did not perish.
In that this opening verse is addressed to Bṛhaspati, he thereby creates creatures endowed with the brahman; created, they do not perish.
