For through speech they speak what is impure and unholy.
Faculty and vital power depart from their speech.
In that the opening verse is in the anuṣṭubh, they become fully equipped with speech from the beginning.
Now, it is [composed] of the verses of Arbuda.
Arbuda the serpent cast off his dead skin by means of these.
They, as it were, die—those who run the vrātyā course.
Moreover, in the presence of an elder, they speak lewd speech.
By means of these [verses], they cast off the dead skin.

Now, it belongs to Agni.

[thinking:] "May he who reveals the worlds reveal the worlds to us!"
2-7.222.p4

2-7.222.p5
tadetayāpahanāmahā iti
let us strike that away with this [verse].
2-7.222.p6
kapirbibhasti tejanaṃ punarjarāyu gauriveti punarevaitayāpiyanti
"The monkey chews the reed, as the cow her afterbirth again"—in this way they enter [life] again through this [verse].
