prajā vai haritaḥ
tā ayaṃ prāṇaḥ pavamāna āviṣṭa iti
"'Pavamāna has entered the quarters,' so [the verse says].
Now, regarding what he says: 'Three creatures transgressed,' those creatures who transgressed are indeed those very ones.
'The others entered around Arka': Arka is Agni; around him these creatures are settled.
'Bṛhat stood in the expanse of space; Pavamāna entered the quarters':
The quarters are the haritaḥ.
Into them this cleansing wind (vāyu pavamāna) has entered: so says the Vājasaneya.
Now Aikādaśākṣi [says]:
'Three creatures transgressed':
Those creatures who transgressed are indeed these very ones.
'The others entered around Arka': Arka is food; around it these creatures are settled.
'Bṛhat stood in the expanse of space':
Bṛhat is the mind.
That heart, which is here in the center of the self, is in the expanse of space.
'Pavamāna entered the quarters':
The quarters are creatures.
Into them this cleansing breath (prāṇa pavamāna) has entered.
