This is the Kṛtastoma. Faith is the highest throw of dice (kṛta). What they win and carry away with the kṛta-throw here, that indeed they carry away through faith; therefore it is the Kṛtastoma. This is the four-increasing rite of the Aṅgirases. The Ādityas went to the heavenly world by a two-increasing rite, the Aṅgirases by a four-increasing rite. By a four-increasing rite he goes to the heavenly world, who knows thus. Regarding this they say: 'The sacrificial performance is liable to fall away; [the sacrificer] is likely to go to that world before his full lifespan.' Because the chants are descending, it is thereby non-falling, and thereby life-bestowing. Now comes this Viśvajyotis rite. The gods desired: 'May we all become like light!' They saw this four-day sacrifice; they took it; they sacrificed with it. Then they all became like light. Therefore, even now, whichever of the gods they see, they say: 'We have seen as it were a light!' He who is desirous of spiritual luster should sacrifice with this. Like a light he shines, who prospers in spiritual luster. Through this he prospers in spiritual luster; he becomes possessed of spiritual luster.
