tena yarddhissaivarddhiḥ

The two months are indeed the prosperity of a season; and a season is visibly the prosperity of the year. In that they sacrifice, in that they sit at a sacrificial session, they seek to prosper through the year, they desire to attain the year; for there is nothing outside the year. These nights are self-rule, since there are twenty-four [in all]: twelve days on that side, twelve on this side. And the world which is in the middle is the self-ruler; that is the heavenly world. Thus they go to the summit of the sun; they go to self-rule; thus they become followers of no other. These nights correspond to the Jagatī. The Jagatī is cattle; therefore, this sacrificial session brings cattle. They also attain the Virāj. Thus they attain the lordship and sovereignty of the food belonging to the Virāj. The Virāj is deficient by two; two are the [parts] of a woman that are deficient, from which she procreates; thereby it is procreative. And through the consecrations, the upasads, and the pressing days, they correspond to the Gāyatrī. The Gāyatrī is breath; therefore, this sacrificial session brings life. The Gāyatrī is vigor; thus they become vigorous and endowed with spiritual luster. The Gāyatrī is primacy; thus they become established in primacy without a rival.
