Now Āṣāḍha Sāvayasa Yādovaśya used to say: 'In the very year when my ordinary maidservant brought water and cooked food, in that very year twenty-four attendants with golden necklaces on their necks followed the serving of food; we did not see those who were without golden necklaces.' So full of fiery splendor, so full of spiritual luster, so full of vital power are these nights. Regarding this they say: 'Indeed, those who undertake these nights climb onto what is superior.' In that the stomas of the pṛṣṭha-bearing six-day period are turned backward beyond, it is for appeasement, for avoiding misfortune, for benevolence, for peace. They conclude from the Trivṛt day. The Trivṛt is brahman; having established themselves in brahman, they reach the conclusion. The Trivṛt is the follower of the Trivṛt; therefore a Brahmin is the follower of a Brahmin. He finds followers, many are his followers, who undertakes these nights. This Gāyatrī does not rest upon the ground; upright, indeed, she goes to the heavenly world along with the sacrificer. Upright is his fame, upright his prosperity, upright he goes to the heavenly world, who knows thus. The concluding Atirātra belongs to Vaiśvānara; for ahīna soma sacrifices conclude with Vaiśvānara.
