It has a twelve-syllable finale. Twelve months are a year. They proceed standing firmly in the months, in the year. Now they say: 'Indeed, those who undertake these continuous six-day periods fall from this world. They should make [a sāman] with the finale oka on the sixth day. This world is indeed man's home (oka). It is in this world that they thus firmly stand.' They also call it 'the harnessing of two sent forth.' Day and night are indeed two sent forth, for these two move along as if sent forth. And indeed, the six-day periods become as if severed when they reach the sixth day. Just as one would harness a horse with a harness, in the same way, by means of this sāman, they proceed harnessing the six-day periods. Regarding this they say: 'Should the one with the oka-finale be performed in the pṛṣṭhya six-day period, or not?' He should say: 'No.' These six-day periods have this as their beginning and this as their end, namely the pṛṣṭhya [six-day period]. It is him that they wish to reach by this, by the Abhīvarta, by the Plava, by the Sujñāna. If they were to perform this here, it would be like repeated application. Therefore, it should not be performed here.",

Thus with the father they encircle the son. For the father is dearest to the son, the son is dearest to the father. If they were to introduce another stoma here, yonder one would burn him with his splendor; Agni Vaiśvānara would take away the creatures. There are these six Svarasāmā days. There are six seasons. It is upon the seasons that they place him; therefore this one goes south for three seasons and north for three seasons. As a son moves about among his fathers, just so is this, for non-monotony; for a son moves about among his fathers without monotony. Now these two, Viśvajit and Abhijit, on both sides, are the vital power of the stomas. With vital power these two hold the Viṣuvant. Regarding this they say: 'The stomas proceed as if broken (stomakṛntatra) when they proceed from the thirty-three-verse [stoma] to the seventeen-verse [stoma]. Having undertaken the Abhijit before the pṛṣṭhya six-day period, they should shift that seventeen-verse day which is in the middle of the pṛṣṭhya six-day period above the thirty-three-verse [stoma].' That they proceed from the seventeen-verse [stoma] to the seventeen-verse [stoma], from equal to equal, the stomas do not go to a fracture; they do not suffer distress.",

Regarding this they say: 'The sacrifice is performed inversely, as it were, when the Abhijit and Viśvajit are Agniṣṭomas, the Viṣuvant is an Agniṣṭoma, and the Svarasāmā days are Ukthyas. All should be made Agniṣṭomas.' The Agniṣṭoma is a summit; the Viṣuvant is a summit. Thus with a summit they connect a summit; with a summit they ascend a summit. The Agniṣṭoma is splendor; the Viṣuvant is splendor; thus with splendor they connect splendor; with splendor they ascend splendor. Now the Kāmyakīyas, sacrificers of a sacrificial session whose householder was Ayasthūṇa, sat for a sacrificial session. Indradyumna Bhāllabeya rushed up to them, [thinking:] 'I will make my son chant during the Viṣuvant.' He arrived when the pṛṣṭhya six-day period had been chanted up to one day. He said: 'You have done well in chanting. But had I been here, I would have arranged the Viṣuvant differently from this.' 'How, venerable sir, would you have arranged it?' the son said to him. He said: 'Having undertaken the Abhijit before the pṛṣṭhya six-day period, I would have proceeded to the Svarasāmā days directly from the pṛṣṭhya six-day period.'",

[Thinking:] "Lest we separate offspring from cattle, from food."'
Regarding that, Śāṭyāyani said, disregarding Bhāllabeya's statement: 'One should proceed only from the Abhijit. The pṛṣṭhya six-day period is indeed the Abhijit. In respect of abode, the stomas of the pṛṣṭhya six-day period are these very ones. There is one seventeen-verse [stoma] in the pṛṣṭhya six-day period. But here there are three seventeen-verse [stomas]. Having made this very stoma, they propagate it. In that from a seventeen-verse [stoma] they propagate a seventeen-verse [stoma], from a seventeen-verse [stoma] a seventeen-verse [stoma], from a seventeen-verse [stoma] a seventeen-verse [stoma]. And on the other side, in the Viśvajit, there are three seventeen-verse [stomas]. Both of them, coming together, propagate. Indeed, in them is the firm foundation. One should proceed only from the Abhijit.'",
