Intending to chant, they disperse. / The adhvaryu, intending to chant with the threefold head, with the Gāyatra, sits down in front of the two havirdhāna sheds. / The maitrāvaruṇa, intending to chant with the fifteenfold wing, with the Bṛhat, sits down on the south. / The brāhmaṇācchaṃsin, intending to chant with the seventeenfold wing, with the Rathantara, sits down on the north. / The neṣṭṛ, intending to chant with the twenty-onefold tail, with the Bhadra, sits down among the wives. / The udgātṛ, intending to chant with the twenty-fivefold trunk, with the Rājana, climbs the audumbarī post: the udumbara is vigor, food; [it is] for the attainment of vigor, of food. / Over it he recites: 'The Bṛhat and Rathantara are your front feet, the Vairūpa and Vairāja your rear feet, the Śākvara and Raivata your longitudinal bars, the meters the coverlet, the sacrificial formulas the webbing; sit down on the pleasant, sit down on the good seat!' / His stepping-down [formula is]: / 'May Great Heaven and Earth moisten this sacrifice of ours; / may they fill us with nourishments.'
