Regarding this, Kahoḷa Kauṣītakeya used to say: 'Long-breasted indeed is their Virāj, who have two stotriyā verses as the breasts of the Virāj! Do they really milk this Virāj from the neighbor's house?' he used to say. 'The gods meditated on this numerical correspondence in terms of syllables alone; the ṛṣis meditated on it; and we ourselves, later generations, meditate on it. Of just these one hundred and ninety stotriyā verses, there are five thousand fourscore and seventy-two syllables. Those which are the seventy-second syllables are the two breasts of the Virāj. The sacrificer is two-footed, for firm standing.' Regarding this they say: 'Since the stoma is a dvāpara, how then is it a kṛta stoma?' One should say: 'By the syllables.' Also: 'By the chants.' Also: 'By the chants and recitations.' And if one should say: 'Because it is ten times kṛta,' by that too it is a kṛta stoma. Truly this [sacrificer] obtains the ten times kṛta.
