These are the nine bahiṣpavamāna [verses].
They are six bṛhatīs.
Six are the mouths of death, namely the seasons.
Now, only the bṛhatī can match these mouths of death, no other meter.
With the bṛhatī he covers the mouth of the season, with the bṛhatī of the season, with the bṛhatī of the season.
Just as one, having crossed over uneven ground by even ground, looks back, even so, having crossed beyond this death, he looks back.
He rolls forward that very three-fold thunderbolt.
It rolls after these worlds day by day.
Regarding this, Nagarī Jānaśruteya used to say: 'Indeed, there will not be a clash between gods and asuras as long as this
three-fold thunderbolt rolls after these worlds day by day.
For this fire blazes upward, this wind blows across, yonder sun shines downward.
These look at one another without blinking.
While they are thus, how could there be a clash between gods and asuras?'
And this threefold thunderbolt of his, rolling after these worlds day by day, goes about striking off all evil, for him who knows thus.
